Education

Following customer evaluation and feedback, we have now included Education section to support both in-class and at-home school education. An unlimited catalog of educational content can now be made available for your target customer base. The 3-layer structure allows you to cover Years, Courses, and Lessons.

LiveTV Preview Image

In the CatchupTV and Recordings menu, the listed TV programs now display a preview image (thumbnail) of the related live program. It enhances the look and feel of the page and improves the user experience. Availability and functionality will be dependent on screen size.

Please note: the used transcoding software should support it. Contact support for more information.

Support of SRT (WebVTT) subtitling

Subtitling and Captioning are two important factors for videos. In some countries, captioning is a mandatory government requirement. That is why we have added support of SRT and WebVTT.

SRT (SubRip Text Format) is a text format for captioning and subtitling. In other words, a simple text file that contains the captions display format for video and is saved in a .srt extension.

WebVTT (Web Video Text Tracks) was developed based on the SRT file format. A benefit of WebVTT is that it supports a number of additional features compared to SRT files.

Subtitling with SRT files can be automatically added to the Movie metadata. The TVMS automatically imports SRT files from Subtitle.org and converts them to WebVTT.

Improved support for Chromecast and Airplay

The use of Chromecast and Airplay to cast your streams to the TV set has been improved and is now more robust. You will need to check which version of your device and the used operating system support these functions.

Improved reporting engine

Knowing how your subscribers are using your service is vital to stay ahead and continually optimize your TV service.

The key elements are:

  • Collection of data based on the usage of the TV service by each subscriber

  • Reporting engine to generate insightful reports

Version 9.0.X covers the first step and supports both next levels and more in-depth analysis of usage information. It also enables you to generate detailed reports offering a better insight as to your TV Service usage.

In the TVMS, the IMS IQ section will now include comprehensive data about each subscriber and an enhanced reporting engine.

Integration of Apple’s Fairplay

Apple devices require Fairplay when content providers, like broadcasters, insist on the use of encryption by a DRM.

The use of Fairplay requires a license from Apple. The license must be obtained by the Operator holding the official content license agreement with the broadcaster/content provider.

Integration of Irdeto Control multi-DRM solution

MwareTV’s platform now supports Irdeto’s multi-DRM solution - Control. With this new integration, Widevine and Fairplay can be used. Irdeto is one of the industry leaders for content protection and encryption. MwareTV is a reseller of this DRM solution.

Roku Channel using TVE

The Roku App now supports the TVE (TV everywhere) function of the Roku Channel Store. Subscribers will receive an activation code (see screenshot below) to unlock the Channel which then allows the subscriber to log in with their username and password.

Bug fixes and stability improvements

A number of small hidden bugs have now been resolved.
